Body Image and Working Mom

We all know that we live in world that is filled with external pressures and societal expectations, so women often find themselves with two major challenges: body image insecurities and doubts about their abilities when it comes to juggling work and raising children. Our relentless inner critic takes a toll on our self esteem and our overall wellbeing. Learning how to overcome our internal judgements and embrace self confidence is crucial to our wellbeing. Let's explore some practical strategies to help us overcome!


Recognize the Voice of Judgement

The first step is to conquer self doubt is to acknowledge our voice of judgement. When we let our voice of judgement take over it can bring on stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. It will amplify your insecurities and magnetize your flaws. By acknowledging your VOJ women can start to detach from it and realize these thoughts don't define you!


Practice Self-Compassion

To overcome self criticism it is crucial to treat yourself with kindness and understanding. This will require you to acknowledge your imperfections without judgement and understanding that we all face challenges. The way that you offer kindness and support to a friend should also apply to oneself.


Challenge Unrealistic Standards

Unfortunately we live in a society the imposes unrealistic standards of beauty and success, which obviously contributes to our feelings of inadequacy. I believe it is also crucial for us to challenge these standards and for us to start recognizing that our true worth goes beyond appearances or accomplishments. We can reshape our perspective on self-worth by valuing our own uniqueness, and our journey along with the ups and downs.


Set Realistic Goals

We all feel the need to be successful, but it is important to remember that we need to set realistic goals and expectations. Striving for perfection in every area of life is not only unattainable, but contribute to our feelings of inadequacy. We also need to recognize that it is O.K to ask for help along the way.


Embrace and Celebrate Achievements

It is easy for us to downplay our accomplishments and only focus on our perceived failures. We need to take the time to acknowledge and celebrate all of our wins, big or small. Not only can this boost our confidence, but also remind us of our capabilities and strengths we possess.


In conclusion that overcoming our inner critic with our body image and as a working mom will be an ongoing journey that will require self-awareness, self-compassion and a commitment to positive change. By implementing the strategies I suggested along with any other tools we will recognize the destructive nature of these thoughts and silence our inner critic and step into our roles with confidence. You will embrace your self-worth and abilities. Remember, you are strong, capable and deserving of self-love and empowerment!!
